One of the things I look forward to as a doTERRA consultant are the quarterly magazines. I always find interesting ideas for using essential oils. The Fall 2012 doTERRA Living magazine is my favorite so far. That’s where I discovered my secret weapon for beautiful skin. On this blog I already shared an amazing facial oil. The last few months though I’ve been making my own facial cleanser & toner too, found in the pages of this marvelous magazine. They’re super easy to make, and evens out any skin type. I no longer get oily spots in the T zone thanks to these solutions. In fact, I ditched my facial powder and don’t carry it in my purse any longer!
It seems every beauty line now carries a facial oil. That’s because there’s been increased attention to the benefits of using nourishing plant based oils on the face. Not only do they hydrate and moisturize, they also help balance the skin and give it a velvety soft and youthful glow.
Now you might be saying why would I put oil on my face when I work hard to get rid of it? The reality is the more we work to remove it the harder our skin works to replace it . The right oil in the right amount actually signals our oil glands to stop producing. It baffled me too!
For a few months I was using a simple concoction of sweet almond oil dosed with a few drops of Lavender and Frankincense essential oils until I discovered a recipe from Rose Cox at essential-oil-recipes.com that I fell in love with. My skin is so soft and smooth, I get compliments on it all the time. You’re in for a treat!
Deluxe Facial Oil
2 Tbsp. avocado oil
1 Tbsp. jojoba oil
1 Tbsp. rosehip oil
3 drops Jasmine essential oil
2 drops Sandalwood essential oil
3 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
Add the avocado, jojoba and rosehip oils to a dark glass bottle using a funnel. Add the essential oils and shake well. Use 2-3 drops in evening after washing face and smooth over face. For really dry skin, layer moisturizer on top.
NOTE: A great resource to purchase the carrier oils is Mountain Rose Herb. They use pure ingredients and have reasonable prices and a wide selection. I encourage doTERRA essential oils for their therapeutic qualities and high standard plant sources.

After a two-year break I decided to plant a small garden this summer. I have a few zucchini, tomato and herb plants and one cantaloupe. I did manage to grow one head of romaine lettuce too. One of the reasons I gave my green thumb a rest was because I had trouble in the past with insects. But this year, I’m happy to say, has been pest free! Thanks to the Spring issue of the doTERRA Living Magazine I found a simple insect repellant that’s effective and won’t harm my plants.
All-Around Insect Repellent Blend:
Fill a spray bottle with 8oz. of water and 15 drops of doTERRA TerraShield essential oil blend, then spray on plants.
I’ve spent the last few months experimenting with DIY (do-it-yourself) beauty care recipes using essential oils. From creams and facial masks to hot oil treatments for the hair, I’ve
tested out dozens of recipes. In the process, I’ve discovered some easy and affordable options that are just as good or even better than store bought products. Lucky for you, in the next few posts I’m going to share my favorites.
Who doesn’t like being pampered? With this body scrub, you’ll feel refreshed and smell great too!
