One of the things I look forward to as a doTERRA consultant are the quarterly magazines. I always find interesting ideas for using essential oils. The Fall 2012 doTERRA Living magazine is my favorite so far. That’s where I discovered my secret weapon for beautiful skin. On this blog I already shared an amazing facial oil. The last few months though I’ve been making my own facial cleanser & toner too, found in the pages of this marvelous magazine. They’re super easy to make, and evens out any skin type. I no longer get oily spots in the T zone thanks to these solutions. In fact, I ditched my facial powder and don’t carry it in my purse any longer!

Green smoothie with lemon oil

Start your day off  right with a tasty and healthy green smoothie. Bonus is you get all the fiber and nutrients of the produce so it keeps you full all morning long. Add a drop or two of lemon essential oil and you have yourself a powerhouse blend! Lemon oil is a natural detoxifier and helps strengthen your immune system. And because its so concentrated,  just a drop or two is all you need.

Experiment with different combinations of  leafy vegetables and seasonal fruit (organic is best). Frozen fruit will make your drink thicker. Always begin with a few ounces of liquid, like water, coconut water or orange juice. A high-performance blender like the Vitamix will make all the difference in how well blended and smooth your drink is. If the mixture is too thick, add more liquid.

Here’s a couple of recipes to try:

Original Blend
3-4 oz. orange juice or water
handful of spinach or romaine lettuce
handful kale
1/2 banana
1/2 apple
1/2 pear
juice from 1/2 lemon
1-2 drops lemon essential oil
optional: 1 stalk celery
optional: handful seasonal berries

Tropical Blend
3-4 oz. orange juice or coconut water
handful spinach
handful kale
1/2 frozen banana
3-4 frozen strawberries
few cubes of frozen mango (available at Trader Joe’s)
1-2 drops lemon essential oil
